Then, as the large double blooms open, they start to look more like a peony. This is a soft, creamy white tulip with a subtle and sweet raspberry pink edging around its outer petals. The blooms only get more beautiful as they open to reveal a buttery centre with more raspberry-tinted flecks.
Classed as a mid-season double, this new tulip is wonderful as a cut flower; its strong, tall stems are well able to carry the enormous flowers. Its fragrance is like a perfume, so Tulip 'Double Shake' bears being experienced close-up.
