Hosta 'Paul's Glory'
Hosta 'Paul's Glory' is a larger size of Hosta, with heart-shaped leaves that are golden in the centre, and broad, blue-green margins. Early in the season there is more of a greenish look to the plant, but the golden colouring intensifies, becoming the dominant colour (particularly if grown where the sun can shine down upon it for a part of the day). And, as the season progresses, the leaves are further transformed: the golden centres gradually whiten, and the leaves take on a slightly puckered appearance. Don’t forget, too, that there are flowers: pale lavender, bell-shaped blooms appear in midsummer, which are excellent for attracting pollinators into your garden.
A sport of the popular Hosta 'Perry’s True Blue', this delightful plantain lily cultivar is extremely popular, a sturdy grower, and can be found in most good hosta collections. It has also received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
