Geum 'Pretticoats Peach'
Plant Geum 'Pretticoats Peach' and flash those frills! All geums are wonderful and have always been popular plants, but this one is upping the game with some added ruffles and an astonishingly long flowering time. From around May each year, this hardy perennial will produce upward, graceful and slender but strong stems, topped with a relaxed show of peach-coloured frilly flowers. The open centres filled with yellow anthers are a magnet for bees and also gives each bloom a wild rose-like appearance. Geum 'Pretticoats Peach' is an undemanding plant with a lot of love to give, bringing you a peachy display from early summer through to autumn.
Geum 'Pretticoats Peach', commonly known as avens, grows well in most soils but prefers a spot which won’t completely dry out in summer. It’ll thrive in sun or partial shade and can really spread its wings in a border where it can form a clump over time. Each year, as the clump grows, it will throw out a greater number of flowering stems. It’s best to give the bare roots of Geum 'Pretticoats Peach' an easy start in a temporary pot and grow it on for a few months before planting it out into its final position in the garden so it doesn’t have to compete with neighbouring plants and weeds before it’s got a good grip on growing.
