Delphinium 'Mystery Sensation' is a real break-through delphinium. It has stunning, eye-catching flowers of sumptuous pale pinky purple, merging towards a cream-yellow centre. The flowers are fully double, too, with each one looking like a miniature dahlia. While taller types of delphinium need some support, this is one of the new Highlander Series, which is more compact, and is self-supporting. Being such a new variety, it is rarely seen for sale!
Delphinium 'Mystery Sensation' is the perfect cottage garden plant, yet it will look just as appealing in a modern setting. It will flower very well in part shade, but it will be even better in full sun. There is a very good chance you will get more blooms later in the summer or autumn, if you cut back faded stems directly after the first flower has finished. It is excellent as a cut flower.
Delphinium elatum 'Highlander Mystery Sensation®' is one of the hardier delphiniums to be raised in recent years, and it will tolerate most types of garden soil. The one thing you can do to keep your larkspur in tip-top condition, however, is to make sure that the soil does not dry out during the flowering period.
