Dahlia 'Caitlin’s Joy'
Introduced in 2022, Dahlia 'Caitlin’s Joy' is a stunning ball dahlia, its tightly rolled petals a violet pink with a hint of apricot. Measuring just 9cm across (positively dinky by dahlia standards!), these picture-perfect blooms mix easily with a range of other plants. We love seeing the complex form of Dahlia 'Caitlin’s Joy' contrasted against more naturalistic companions such as grasses and umbels. Think Pennisetum 'Hameln' and Achillea 'Summer Pastels'. Perfection!
To keep Dahlia 'Caitlin’s Joy' blooming for as long as possible it is important to remove flowers before they have the chance to set seed. This may be done both by picking flowers to have in the house (and trust us, you will want to do this!), and deadheading any faded blooms left on the plant. Try not to get mixed up between old and new blooms… finished flowers are pointed and squishy, while unopened buds are rounded, glossy and firm. Snip off old blooms just above the first set of leaves you meet further down the stem.
