Camassia 'Aurora'

Camassia 'Aurora'

If you want something brand new, quite rare, a little unusual, and with lots of staying power, and of course with simply stunning flowers, then Camassia leichtlinii 'Aurora' is just the thing. The tall flower spikes, up to 90cm high, are clothed with star-shaped blooms of light mauve-purple, fading to a very pale pink, with a bluish stripe on the reverse. The centres of the blooms are bright green, and the flower clusters are dotted with golden yellow anthers. As with all camassias, the flowers of 'Aurora' open from the bottom upwards.

Camassia leichtlinii 'Aurora' are tough and have a reputation for naturalizing in gardens. That means you don’t need to lift and store them every year. Just make sure the soil isn’t too soggy during the dormant season. They may be grown in full sun or part-shade, and are at their absolute best in early summer. Camassia leichtlinii 'Aurora' are good for beds, borders, grassland and as cut flowers for bringing inside.
